they have been my pride and joy for the last two weeks. :) guess who's my favourite boy? he's definitely gonna break some hearts next time. so there's the laughter and the tears. who'd think my prayers for hands-on experience would be answered in the loveliest way possible? Psalms 27:14~ Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

did you have college memories? they aren't my classmates but hey, we've made it through more than just 2 years of classroom days. :) it was a night to remember. friday the 13th means a lot more to me than i'd like to know.

being silly was something i hadn't done in a while. church wedding event of the year. :) 7 years of dating and a wedding on 070707 :) was glad to be a part of it. i enjoyed the reception. missing the dinner is something i'm gonna regret for a long time.

proud parents. 4 years was a long time in coming. but it was good when it finally came. :)

the donut factory! :) it's not the perfect heart shape but it makes for a pretty decent jam filled donut with white chocolate glaze. it was sweltering heat today. thirty three degrees i kid you not. i sent out an emergency email declaring my unhappiness to mama yeo. to which she kindly replied a 'so how can i help cheer you up??????' i think she likes punctuations. she uses a billion dots, qn marks and exclaimation marks in her emails. hahaha. that's my youth day holiday. together with a spot of sewing.

sunday dinner. :) that's stir fried lean pork in baked bean sauce, double boiled pork ribs + carrot soup, fried seaweed (to go on top of our sticky australian rice), blanched kailan topped with stir fried sliced black mushrooms and lovely orange hued prawns. mmm. i love cooking. :) how was your sunday?

we're naughty. but nice too. ;)

so yesterday i had school till 130. i got home at 2ish. bathed. and attempted to sleep at 245. and woke up at 3 to go for a survey at 4 till 6 and waited for my girls till 745 (alone!). adam road hawker centre chicken rice man has seen me sit by myself for a whole hour. hahaha. it was hot. smokey. stinky. but worth it :) sambal stingray, nasi briyani, indian rojak and satay. mmm. a picture says a thousand words. especially when they capture happy moments like these. :) the food was okay, the nutella was a lil overwhelming cos cassie we counted you in and shared a tub with your share. haha. but the company? amazing. honestly. cos we bother. :) it was a long day. a long. but happy day.

contact time is when you touch base with the rest of the teachers, vice principal and principal. the first contact time is also the time when you're embarrassingly introduced to the rest of the school teachers. haha. so that was my day today. and also my very romantic canteen makan date. i guess i'd rather eat alone with my story book. correction. i'd rather eat packed food from home with my story book. mgs food is honestly (if slightly biased since there's only one comparison) the best ever. in non-teaching related news, today i made waffles :) say hello to mr waffley who has a terrible tendency to heat up too fast. but still trustworthy enough to churn out yummy waffles. leave a shout if you need the recipe. :)

good morning miss yeo. :) i'm counting on that to put a smile on my face for the next few years. for the next month however, i'm looking forward to that to kickstart my day. it's pretty tough being a teacher. i've met a boy today that seems to always be getting himself into trouble. it's honestly the type that just has an inclination to be the spotlight of attention. i really dont think he chooses to be that way. they had to fill out a pupil profile form. and on it has a blank for personal ambition. that very same boy? he wrote that he wanted to be a dentist. and i quote. "if cannot? to be a teacher." these are kinds of thing that make impactful advertising for teaching as a career. it's just only been a day. more to see. more to learn :)

jack's place. when was the last time you were there? i know my brothers have been there manyyyyy more times than i have. hahaha. they are boring boys who need their meat. :) what's your sabbath like?

i guess the deal about dining nowadays. is not really where i'm dining but who i'm dining with. and really? home. is where the heart is. i need support. and that's where i'm getting it from. :) there's mama yeo on one side and papa yeo on the other. we took a break from hawker centres this week living the high life on a whim. too bad it isn't helping in getting an appetite back. sigh. on another note altogether, i'm suddenly looking forward to getting my first paycheck just so we can be dining in nice places. i guess i wont be spending a lot at school :)

Saturday, June 23, 2007

there we go! cassie boo. chawanmushi for you? :) my lil bro and i at sakae sushi. my aunt and brother were at another table. i cannot stomach food when i see how my aunt orders. (like there is no tomorrow). she just likes ordering lots so she can pick a lil from every dish. do your food habits comply with mine? :)
that day. i didn't take lunch. :) durian swiss roll. well. durian flavoured. 100% pure fruit. just too much cream. hahaha. :)

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

what does a durian swiss roll need? durian. right? well. we had. but we're talking a proportion of 1 part durian to 10 parts heavy cream. sigh. that's a durian FLAVOURED swiss roll. it was a hit though. :) there are photos. but that's for another time, another day. the little brother promised to blog about it. so stay tuned! :) on a side note, i just coughed till i had to throw up. it's as bad as it gets. food makes me happy. looking at it. my throat's so raw from all that coughing. i do not get more resilient to handling illnesses as i grow older. prayers for healing please.

Sunday, June 17, 2007

tendonitis. how to? a blunt knife and a very big fish to fillet. hahaha. it was an evangelistic event in church last night. for 30 odd people. estimated 60 ppl. so the preparations. were. in a word? mad. hahaha. but when God guides, He provides. i never boiled soup with yellow soybeans before. yesterday was a first try. and a pretty passable one at that. hello to more nutritious soup for the family next time around! :) and in the spirit of today, HAPPY DADDY'S DAY! make daddy a card, say something nice, or just give him a hug. :) i did the first. am contemplating that last. i'm too embarrassed to showcase my card. it's a juvenile primary school card. but hey, it's got the words from all his three children and beloved wife. blessed sunday!

Saturday, June 16, 2007

prissie and me. wearing basically the same top. hahaha. it was a bad lor mee from wei nan wang lor mee stall at stuffy golden shoe. but desserts at dessert hut at the arcade saved the day! :) can you tell we were pleased? no photos of the food. the girlfriend. was more important :)

Sunday, June 10, 2007

cai xin. fuzhou fish balls stuffed with minced meat. chinese mushrooms. fresh grey prawns. mmm. somehow, i've come to develop an inclination toward prawns. not in large quantities of course. can you believe instant noodles could look so appetizing? :) sunday's lunch. from szemin's home to yours.
laurel garden. a whole 45 close to an hour wait for the food. and? it was worth it. just like we remembered. a day we ventured out to shen zhen. it was an abundance of fresh prawns, scallops and juicy meats.
boston clam chowder. that's a clam i was gonna devour. haha.
marinated pork steak. it was good. like char siew :) on a bed of butter fried vegetables. and a side of thick cut fries

8 oz jumbo burger with fries and coleslaw on the side.
dont ask me how we waddled home after dinner.

this deserves a post by itself. :) those black sturdy waffle irons you can flip around and end up with crisp waffles full of bite. and then there's the maple syrup and butter of course :)

then there was the dessert line up: (top left clockwise) tiramisu. strawberry + chocolate + vanilla + black sesame ice cream. MMMmm. creme covered strawberries, tau huay with red sugar, a peek at hot sesame paste, strawberry cheese tart. :)
i did not finish all that. eat right. live well :) indulgences can come once in a while.
appetizers and main courses

salad, teppanyaki prawns, sashimi, baked oysters and minced garlic topped scallops

the healthy refreshing: prawn + mango + lychee salad

the carbs: pork chop + satay sauce + vermicelli
food choices. too many. too much. but who's complaining :) it's a mai dong xi chi dong xi (buy things, eat things) land afterall. yup okay so that was a bad translation. basically. we ate. and we shopped. nothing compared to how i felt about hkg the last trip in september. but it was still a blast.

we finally decided. guess what it was? :)

hongkong hiatus. it's a swelteringly hot summer holiday.
seafood porridge :) dump in squid, minced meat, prawns and dried scallops. :)

Saturday, June 02, 2007

seafood porridge today. the brother and daddy were out early in the morning for a fishing competition at saf yatch club. it's been a while since i cooked. so i volunteered for seafood porridge. something radically different from a loved and cherished comfort food of minced pork and mushroom porridge. :) photos up in a bit. i havent gotten to uploading it. :p

american grill. these guys took over sizzler in indonesia. they have WARM APPLE CRUMBLE! and the same softserve ice cream. the salad bar isn't so great but hey, they have mushrooms. :) sorry the mains disappeared. it was a 9pm dinner.
and what do you know? they have thai express there too. or did you already know? a bowl of tom yum glass noodles are only 4 dollars sgd. or less. and it tastes just as good. with an appetizer of fried calamari and red bean milkshake.
keropok sayuran: veggie spice cracker appetizer. fried special chilli gurame: juicy meat but the sides were fried to a crunchy crisp. ayam panggang: it looked sadly thin and gaunt. but the marinate was an explosion of flavours with a lovely sweet sauce. finger licking good it was :) and my favourite soup ikan gurame. we've talked about this one already. yum.
the 4 stars jayakarta hotel bandung. the spacious room in the new wing of the hotel and the nice bathroom with folding windows to watch tv while taking a soak in the bathtub. breakfast the morning after. the food was pretty decent. and hot. at least. :)
late dinner at 9pm. after we reached the city area in bandung and had to mercilessly tear ourselves away from the rows of factory outlets. clockwise from top left: sambal for the fish soup, chicken satay (sorry, i dont eat mutton :p), an excellent plate of flavourful nasi goreng- the best ever on this trip, and my lovely gurame soup.

chronology is a problem with me. where my thoughts go. the photos follow. so this was lunch in bandung. from top left clockwise: sambal ayam, hotplate kangkong, sambal (ordered separately as an item on the menu), avocado with milk and coconut sugar and indonesian chicken satay with black sweet sauce mixed with peanut sauce. mmm.

breakfast. a couple of weeks back. it's time for a backlog of blog posts. it's been a while :) banana pancakes with scrambled eggs and mozzarella cheese with honey mangoes fresh from bangkok.

sop ikan gurame. i have not tasted soup made with gurame like this before. it was a simple lovely soup stock rich and chalky. no hint of fishyness and all that muddy taste that usually comes from any other cooking method with freshwater fishes save for deep frying. if you're going up to bandung and would like the address let me know. :)

indonesia was a good break. it wasn't one i looked forward to. to be honest. but it was one that i had a good time with mum and aunt. :) i mean. with ice cream and choc chip teddies? anything's possible. :)

breakfast with heart. up in the mountains in chiangmai. after a mad rush trying to get transit tickets at the new survanabhumi airport in thailand. how can you not smile when you get eggs served up to you like that. if it's anything. the thai ppl are indeed service people. :) more to come! it's been a longgg while
